Character Information
Name: Vriska Serket
Canon Origin/Series: Homestuck
School Year: 3rd
Gender: Female
Age: 13
Out of school living location: She lives with Sybille in Monte Carlo.
Blood status: Pureblood

Personality:

Vriska is just like any other 13 year old on the inside- insecure, self-conscious, and anxious. Coupled with the fact that she is an ESL student who hasn't had a stable home environment since she was six it makes for a pretty sad teenage girl. So she has a few problems with trusting others and making friends (because why be friends with someone if they just stab you in the back later on or even worse, leave you?) and that distrust is only doubled when it comes to adults, having grown up being around adults who didn't really want her (just another mouth to feed) and just passed her along like she was a holiday fruitcake. It made her skin a little thicker yet at the same time even more conscious of how everyone else viewed her. She doesn't want to be dependent on anyone, but at the same time she doesn't want to be entirely alone either. Which is only natural, especially for a young girl such as herself. All the things she needed while growing up, positive attention, a stable role model adult, friends, were unfortunately devoid and dry in her life and the consequences of such are painfully evident in her behavior around her peers and adults.

As a way of masking her own insecurities she takes on a cocky and arrogant attitude, while surprisingly (despite her upbringing) has nothing to do with being pureblooded. She just never seemed to care about who was 'pure' or 'muddled'- all she cares about is whether you are interesting or not. So she is arrogant, proud, and guarded. She does what she wants and doesn't care who may get hurt in the process-- after all it's survival of the fittest and if you can't keep up with her why should she even bother showing you mercy? She's been on her own this long and she doesn't expect that to change anytime soon.

Canon Background: Here!

Background (AU!Canon; HP):

Sayonara, baby! Vriska was born in Kiev, Ukraine in a pureblooded family. She never knew her father and when she was six years old her mother passed away, leaving her an orphan. From then she was passed around family members who took her on for as little as a week to a year. She wasn't the most friendliest child and constantly misbehaved as a way to gain attention seeing that her relatives that she was passed around with weren't very keen on giving her the attention she needed as a growing child.

Needless to say this went on up until she was 11 and wound up in Leeds, England and lived with an elderly relative- the last person who would take her. Coming all the way from Ukraine, Vriska never had much of a chance to expand on her English vocabulary and so she came into the United Kingdom with little understanding of what anyone aside from her great aunt was saying.
Shortly after coming to England she received her Hogwarts letter and attended school there for 3 years. In her 3rd year her great aunt passed away, giving her a good scare that when school ended she'd be placed in an orphanage. To her surprise she was placed in the care of the Charms professor, Sybille Matteris, who was actually unknowingly related to her. It was a little bit of a shock to them both.

Vriska is still very shaky with the English language and has a high distaste for actually using it in conversation (not that she has much choice), but she is given extra English lessons to help improve. While she is still poor at speaking it, her writing and reading capabilities have excelled well with only a few mistakes here and there. The progress with her speech though is very slow even in her 3rd year... Livejournal.

How would your character fit in to each House? [Please fill this out for each House, and explain why. We don't want see just "OH THEY'D NEVER BE IN THIS HOUSE!" We'd like you to explain why. This does not guarantee any House placement, it is more for moderators to consider.]

Gryffindor: Vriska has a will of her own and when she sets her mind to something, she is fiercely determined to achieve that something whatever it may be. If Vriska was sorted into Gryffindor I could see it being for these reasons, as well as her undying stubbornness and slightly rash behavior that tends to (more than often) get her into trouble.

Hufflepuff: If there is one thing Vriska is, she is clever. She has a way of thinking outside the box and understanding puzzles that may confound others. Hufflepuffs can be known to be clever and while I don't see this being the house Vriska would be sorted into, that is something she has in common with them, if a bit small.

Ravenclaw: Intelligence and wit and cunning, three of the main factors that are valued in the Ravenclaw house and Vriska does well to share a bit of each one. While she may not be intelligent across the entire board, she does hold extensive knowledge over certain subjects such as certain insects, reptiles, machinerary, etc., and she is well versed in street smarts. Her wit is as sharp as her tongue in either language she speaks and she can slip away from a troubling situation with a little quick-talking faster than a greased thief. She could fit into this house.

Slytherin: It's a common idea to place Vriska in Slytherin and for good reason. Out of all the houses Vriska shares most in common with Slytherin. She is a girl who knows what she wants, she knows how to get it, and she holds no qualms about pushing others out of her way to achieve it. She is quite serious in her ambitions, as short or long-lived as they may be. Yet because of her past experiences Vriska also shares another 'common' Slytherin trait: distrust. Honorable is not an adjective others are quick to describe her as because she is rarely so. Vriska does very well in keeping others away from her and the idea of relying on others to help her achieve a goal is foreign to her. She prefers to work alone and that preference doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.
